* The Camping World 300 marks Vickers second Daytona International Speedway start for Braun Racing. Returning to the No.10 in 2008, Vickers will pilot a total of 13 races for owner Todd Braun this season. ABF will provide sponsorship for Vickers in the Nationwide Series opener and eight additional races this year. Vickers will also represent sponsor Dollar General in four select events beginning with Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.
* There is no doubt Vickers knows what it takes to maneuver the mentally grueling restrictor plate racing of Daytona International Speedway (DIS). The 2003 Nationwide Series Champion has logged two top-10 finishes including a runner-up finish in June 2006 but this time he's focused on the number one finishing position and his first Daytona International Speedway trophy. Vickers has had success in restrictor plate racing. In 2006 he claimed his first Sprint Cup Victory at Talladega Superspeedway. He also will have the help of a proven chassis. Vickers will pilot the same car Dave Blaney finished second and third with in February and July respectively.
Vickers excited to be back with Braun Racing, and crew chief Trent Owens
"I'm really looking forward to the 2008 season. I had so much fun racing for these guys last year that I wanted to come back and take another crack at getting to Victory Lane. Trent and the guys work so hard on these cars and I can count on them to prepare me a car that I can win with each week. I'm running 13 races with them this year and our goal is to get to Victory Lane as much as possible. We're not running for points, we're going for wins and that will change how we approach each weekend. I think these guys are more than capable and long over do for a win."
Vickers on Racing at Daytona
"Restrictor plate racing is very challenging because you have to be on your game every second. Daytona is a really fun track if everything is going your way but anything can happen in an instant and you have to be prepared for anything. You are at the mercy of all the other drivers on the track and you need them to help you get to the front. I'll have two teammates helping me out but at the end, it's every man for themselves and I hope we're up there fighting for that top spot."
"We were only able to test the last day of the three day session in Daytona. We used our time feeling out the set-up of the car for qualifying but didn't get a chance to draft as much as we wanted to. I'm sure we'll work that out in the practice sessions. It's a good car we just need to do some tweaking and it'll be perfect by race time. I really appreciate Red Bull Racing Team letting me run some Nationwide races and hopefully the extra track time will help the Cup effort as well."
The No. 10 ABF Racing team will compete with chassis 26 in this weekend's Camping World 300. This is the same chassis Dave Blaney raced at Daytona in February and July where he finished second and third respectively.
