Vickers on Racing at Daytona
"Last year we finished fourth with a car that was capable of winning. I always love running restrictor plate races. You're always thinking and plotting your next move. When they say that it's a 200 mph chess match, it really is!"
Vickers Returns to Braun Racing
"This is the first of 17 races that I will be running with Dollar General and Braun Racing and I'm looking forward to a great year with Trent and the team."
Crew Chief, Trent Owens, on Vickers and Daytona
"I really like Daytona. We have a good record here, especially with the car that we're bringing. It's always great speedway racing with our Toyota engines. Brian's a good drafter so we're definitely confident we can have a good run. The history of Daytona excites me a lot since I grew up in the sport. It would be such an honor to get a win here."
Owens' uncle is racing legend, Richard Petty, his father, the late Randy Owens and his step-father is champion crew chief Barry Dodson...Nice racing roots, huh?
The No. 32 Dollar General team will compete with chassis #026 in this weekend's Camping World 300. This is the same chassis that Braun Racing ran at both Daytona races in 2007 and 2008. Chassis #026 finished second in February (as the No. 32 Toyota) and third in July 2007 (as the No. 10 Toyota) and finished fourth in February and 37th in July 2008 as the No. 32.
This Camry finished in the top-five for each Daytona appearance and was about to do it again when a drive shaft broke in July 2008, ending the day early for Vickers and the No. 32 Dollar General team.
