Rookie adds second career pole to an already remarkable season.
CONCORD, N.C. -- Chase Elliott has done it again.
Elliott, 18, topped the speed chart in the third round of qualifying at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a lap of 181.354mph for his second career Nationwide Series pole.
Joining him on the front row for Friday night's feature will be Matt Kenseth. Brian Scott, Elliott Sadler and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.
Elliott earned his second pole on his bossman, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s 40th birthday. His first pole came at his home track, Atlanta Motor Speedway, six races ago.
Elliott is currently the NNS points leader. The driver of the JR Motorsports No. 9 Chevy has three wins, 14 top fives and 23 top 10s for the season.
