Leffler's Off-Weekend Antics...
Though the Nationwide Series enjoyed a rare weekend off last week, Leffler satisfied his lust for speed at two different race tracks. On Monday and Tuesday, Leffler and the No. 38 Great Clips team participated in the Goodyear Tire test at Iowa Speedway. From Iowa, Leffler traveled directly to Indianapolis to visit with family and friends. He topped his week off by attending Indianapolis 500 qualifying on Saturday and Sunday. One of Leffler's favorite racing memories came in 2000 when he ran the Indianapolis 500 for Treadway Racing. In the event he considers the "greatest spectacle in racing," Leffler started and finished 17th.
Braun Racing Looking for More Hardware from Lowe's Motor Speedway (LMS)
Braun Racing has two trophies from LMS in their display case and they are hoping to add to that collection this weekend. Dave Blaney gave the team their first win at the track in October, 2006. One year ago, Kyle Busch gave the team their second trophy when he drove the No. 32 Dollar General Camry to victory lane.
Leffler's Lowe's Motor Speedway Highlights
In 11 Nationwide Series starts at LMS, Leffler has one-top five and two top-10 finishes. He has led laps in six of those events for a total of 79 laps led. In last year's May race, Leffler led for 25 laps before being involved in an accident that cut his night short. His best performance at LMS came in the spring of 2004 when he started from the ninth spot and finished fourth, leading for 36 laps.
Gaining Ground in the Point Standings
With his second place finish at Darlington, Leffler gained 45 points on Nationwide Series championship points leader, Kyle Busch. Leffler remains in striking distance of Busch (153 points back) and is only 116 points behind second-place, Carl Edwards.
LEFFLER ON LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY
"Lowe's Motor Speedway is pretty high on my list of favorite tracks. With the fast speeds and three-wide racing, it's a lot of fun. We all consider Lowe's Motor Speedway to be our hometown track and, even though most of us are not from here, this is a place we have all made our home. Winning here in Charlotte would be a really big deal to me. The field is always stacked with a lot of Sprint Cup drivers, so you are racing against the best of the best when you race here. Braun Racing already has two wins here and we are hoping to make it three this weekend."
