CHAD MCCUMBEE TO MAKE NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES DEBUT WITH RAB RACING
Concord, NC (4-13-2010) -- Chad McCumbee, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran, will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut with RAB Racing behind the wheel of the No. 09 Ford Fusion in this weekend's O'Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
McCumbee will be making his eighth start at the 1.5-mile quad-oval. However, this will be his first career start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in the "Lone Star State". The 25-year-old Supply, NC native's best start at TMS is 2nd (2007) and his best finish is 6th (2008) both in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
"Texas is a place that I am familiar with," said McCumbee. "Although this will be my first start in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas, I've had the opportunity to test a Nationwide car. Texas is a fast place that rewards those that take care of their equipment. I've run seven truck races there, so I feel like my experience at Texas in a truck will help me a lot this weekend. The track is multi-grooved so there is more than one fast way around."
McCumbee, who finished 19th in the 2009 NCWTS point standings, has a total of 94 starts in the Series from 2006-2010 with three top-5 and 17 top-10 finishes.
"This is a great opportunity for me," said McCumbee. "This is group of young, determined, talented individuals just like me so I can't think of a better team to make my first Nationwide Series start with."
The O'Reilly 300 from Texas Motor Speedway will be televised live on ESPN2 Saturday, April 17 beginning at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The race will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the seventh event on the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule will be televised on ESPN2 on Friday, April 16 beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. PRN and Sirius Satellite Radio will broadcast qualifying updates live.
