NOTES AND QUOTES:
The Lysol 200 at Watkins Glen International is the only roadracing event on the NASCAR Busch Grand National schedule.
“Goodyear will take the same tire used in 1997 to Watkins Glen International for this year’s NASCAR Busch Grand National race,” said Mark Keto, Goodyear’s NASCAR BGN engineer. “Typically roadracing experience plays a more important role in the outcome of the race at Watkins Glen than car set-up and tire performance. Tire wear isn’t an issue at this race which allows drivers to drive their own race.
“The D5592 is used on both sides at Sears Point on the Winston Cup cars,” Keto explained. “But because of the predominantly right hand turns at Watkins Glen, a tougher left side tire is used. We expect a safe, competitive race on Sunday.”
ESTIMATED PIT STOPS FOR SUNDAY’S RACE: Stop approximately every 30 laps (estimate is based on fuel consumption).
