SHELL TEAM WANTS REPEAT IN MUSIC CITY STEWART READY TO FOLLOW LABONTE’S FOOTSTEPS AT NASHVILLE SPEEDWAY NASHVILLE, TN - The Shell NASCAR Busch Grand National team knows how to win at Nashville Speedway U.S.A. In 1996, Bobby Labonte captured the victory in the Opryland U.S.A. 320 for Shell. The team returns March 15 with Tony Stewart behind the wheel prepared to put Shell back in the winner’s circle.
“The Shell crew has a proven track record in Nashville with Bobby’s win in 1996,” said Stewart. “It will give us a head start on our setups. The rest will be bringing me up to speed in the car.
“This will be my first race at Nashville,” stated Stewart. “I en how the close racing on the short tracks. It will be another step in learning to drive in the Busch Series. Initially, we will concentrate on our qualifying setup. Securing a good starting spot is important in all Busch Series races, particularly on short tracks. The schedule NASCAR has for this weekend will give us plenty of time to set the car up properly. We feel confident we will be competitive at Nashville and bring the Shell Pontiac home with a strong finish.”
The BellSouth Mobility/Opryland 320 is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. (EST). Live television coverage will be provided by TNN. The race will be broadcast live on the radio by MRN to over 200 affiliate stations nationwide.
