TODD BODINE DARLINGTON RACEWAY NASCAR BUSCH SERIES NOTES
On Darlington: A lot of drivers in both the NASCAR Busch and Winston Cup Series will label Darlington Raceway one of the toughest on either circuit. The mile has proven brutal for a number of competitors. In his 11 NASCAR Busch Series starts at Darlington, Todd Bodine, driver of the Phillips 66 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, has posted an impressive record of five top-five and nine top-10 finishes. Even more impressive is his lap completion record. Bodine has completed all but seven laps in his 11 NASCAR Busch Series starts at Darlington.
"Darlington, like Rockingham, is a driver's track," Bodine said. "It is a tough race track, but I like racing there. It's a track where I have been able to walk away with good finishes. We haven't walked off with a win yet, but we've been in contention for a win. Because of the success we've had there in the past we are going to Darlington this weekend expecting a win or pretty close to it."
Crew Chief Donnie Richeson said conserving tires will be important to securing a win at the track that's "too tough to tame."
"Tire management is the key at Darlington," Richeson confirmed. "The driver who is able to conserve his tires and keep the Darlington stripe off his car is the one who will be in contention for the win at the end."
Equipment: "Hillbilly" is the car Bodine will compete with this weekend at Darlington Raceway. "Hillbilly" has made a start earlier this season at Rockingham where Bodine posted a ninth-place finish. "Hillbilly" is the same car Bodine posted a fifth-place finish with in the fall at Darlington.
Bodine Favorite: Bodine's favorite team in the NBA is the Boston Celtics.
