NASCAR Busch Series Notes On Michigan: Todd Bodine looks to get back to victory lane when the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division, visits the two-mile oval of Michigan Speedway this weekend during the running of the NAPA 200. Victory circle at Michigan is a familiar territory to the driver of the Phillips 66 Chevrolet. Bodine won the inaugural Busch Series event at Michigan in 1992. It is a victory Bodine continues to savor.

"That was the first time anybody had raced at Michigan," Bodine explained. "It was only my second full season racing any kind of race car. There were a lot of Winston Cup regulars in that Busch race. We finished first and like the next 10 cars were Winston Cup regulars. That was a pretty awesome feeling."

Bodine also has one win at Michigan's sister track, California Speedway. Crew chief Donnie Richeson explained that to achieve success at Michigan a team must have the right combination of aerodynamics and motor.

"Michigan is a big, fast track with real long straightaways," Richeson said. "The key to being successful is having lots of horse power to get down the straightaways and a car body with good aerodynamics to achieve the maximum speed. You have both those ingredients and you will be in good shape at Michigan."

Two Weeks Ago in Indianapolis: Bodine had his best finish of the 1999 season two weeks ago in Indianapolis. Bodine started seventh and was running second to race winner Jason Keller. He was in position to go for the win before the last caution waved with four laps to go, forcing the event to end under the yellow. The second-place finish was Bodine's seventh top-five and 15th top-10 finish of the season.

The car Bodine will compete with at Michigan Speedway is new to the Cicci-Welliver racing stable. The car has been named "Twister's Sister" for its resemblance to another car in the Phillips 66 shop - "Twister." "Twister" has been competing since its debut at Nashville and has never finished outside the top 10, with its best finish of fifth occurring at Nashville.

Bodine Favorite: Bodine's favorite racing memory is his win at Michigan during the inaugural Busch Series event in 1992.
