Concord, N.C. (September 28, 1999) - Cicci-Welliver Racing announced today that veteran driver Todd Bodine has renewed his contract with the team through the 2000 season. It will mark the seventh year of competition for the Bodine/Cicci-Welliver combination. "This is a natural extension of a good thing for both our team and Phillips 66," said Bodine. "I always feel confident running the Phillips 66 Chevrolet. I'm backed by a great team including Donnie Richeson (crew chief) and team manager Clyde McLeod. We can run up front, we can win races and we can win the championship next year." Bodine, 35, debuted with Cicci-Welliver Racing in 1991 and has spent the better part of six seasons driving for his fellow New Yorkers. Bodine's record with the team speaks for itself. He has a total of 160 starts with Cicci-Welliver and has eight wins, 49 top-five finishes and 92 top 10s. Bodine had his best year with the team in 1997, capturing 22 top 10s and finishing a close second in the point standings. His 1999 stats are on target to match his performance two years ago. Heading to Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, Bodine and the Phillips 66 Performance Team have 26 starts, eight top fives and 17 top-10s in 1999. "We're pleased that Todd has chosen to continue our relationship in the 2000 season, and we believe Todd and the Phillips 66 Team have what it takes to win," said co-owner Frank Cicci. "We're looking forward to finishing the remainder of the season strong and keeping ourselves at the front of the field next year."
