You Finally got a chance to make some competitive laps at Memphis. how did It feel to MAKE A race? "It felt great. We had two goals. To make the race was our first goal, and to finish all the laps was our next goal. We did both of those. The guys at ST Motorsports gave me a really good car. We would have liked to have started a little closer to the front, but we also knew that we just needed to make the show. We started 22nd and ran about mid-pack the whole race. But we stayed on the lead lap the whole race. That was a big deal."
How much pressure were you under with the leader, Clint Boyer, trying to put you a lap down? "You know, we wanted to stay on the lead lap and keep positions at the end of the race. The guy in front of me was a bit slower and he was holding me up the whole time for about six or seven laps. It looked like he got a little loose and spun out."
How was driving a car that wasn't 100 PERCENT after SOME on-track contact with other cars? "Just running where we were, there was some beating and banging going on. The fenders got beat up a little bit throughout the race but that was just part of it. The main thing was that we didn't wreck or cause any wrecks or anything like that. We were able to miss all the big wrecks. I was getting run into from behind on some of those runs and that was getting a bit frustrating, but that's just part of running on a short track like Memphis."
You had raced aT Memphis Motorsports Park before in a USAC Silver Crown race. "Yes, I had run one Silver Crown race there. That day went pretty good and we had finished third. So, I did have some laps there and we had had a pretty good test a week before the race."
How was it sharing notes with your teammates, Jon Wood and Stacy Compton? "We're always working together. We all three had pretty good cars. Stacy qualified 10th and we all three were fairly close on the set-up."
What's your schedule FOR THE REST OF this year in the Craftsman Truck Series? "We plan to go to Phoenix and then Homestead. It will be the same deal at those tracks; the number one goal is to try to make the race and then see what we've got and what we can do."
Any more USAC races planned for this year? "I have a couple of races planned after Homestead. We plan to run Turkey Night out in California and then at Orlando during the PRI show."
