Team Yellow Racing ready to Rock
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 16, 1999) The long winter wait is over. Finally! The Emerald Performance Group is set to debut its 1999 program with NASCAR Winston Cup star Mike Skinner and primary sponsor Yellow Freight System.
Known collectively as Team Yellow Racing, the team will field Chevrolet Monte Carlos in 20 races in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division in 1999 with Mike Skinner handling the driving chores in 14 of the events.
"We are about as pumped up as you can possibly be," said team co-owner David Ridling. "The guys in the shop have really put in the extra effort to make sure that we field a first class effort. I can't say enough about the sacrifices they have made for this team. I couldn't ask for a more dedicated bunch of guys."
Skinner, fresh off of an outstanding fourth-place finish in one of the most exciting Daytona 500s in recent memory, is ready for the challenges of NASCAR Busch Series racing.
"I am really looking forward to the opportunity to compete with all of the great young talent in this series," said Skinner. "The mixture of young talent and veterans in this series make it all the more challenging, but this Yellow team is ready to go to the front. David Ridling and Duane Deese have put together a package that I think is going to be in contention to win every time they go to the race track."
Team Yellow Racing debuts this Saturday, February 20 in the Alltel 200 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, N.C., "the Rock". The race will be televised live on TNN and broadcast live over MRN radio beginning at noon.
