Gordon Keeps Nose Clean in Talladega; Races To 28th in Aaron's 312
Talladega, Ala. - Tina Gordon drove a smart race and kept out of trouble, bringing the Sticks 'N' Stuff Chevrolet home in one piece in the Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon gained 14 positions from her 42nd starting position and put the racecar back on the trailer without a scratch on it.
"We had a pretty good weekend," Gordon said. "When we got there, we weren't really that fast but I give Johnny Davis and the team a lot of credit because they never quit making the adjustments and never stopped trying to find the speed we needed."
Gordon overcame a mid-race fuel miscalculation, which forced her to run out of fuel on the speedway under caution. She coasted to a stop in turn three and needed a push to the pits.
"It's just one of those things that happens," Gordon said. "We didn't lose a lap because of it, but the car wouldn't refire once we got to pit road."
Gordon looks forward to returning to her No. 13 ThorSport Racing Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on May 16 for the UAW/GM Ohio 250 at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, a track she has an advantage over the majority of the Truck Series competitors.
"We ran a test there in a Truck last year before they announced this race," Gordon said. "I was really impressed with the track. There are two really good grooves up there, and you'll see a lot of passing. I also think you'll see a lot of beating and banging too. This track was made for the Truck Series."
The UAW/GM Ohio 250 from Mansfield Motorsports Speedway is scheduled for live telecast on Speed on May 16 starting at 2 P.M. Eastern. The race will also be heard on select affiliates of the Motor Racing Network and on NASCAR Radio, XM 144 on XM Satellite Radio.
