Notes & Quotes
The Second Time Around... This weekend's Busch Series event at Talladega Superspeedway will mark the first time this season Casey Mears will compete at a track where he has a previous stock car start. Mears made his stock car debut last fall at Talladega in the ARCA Series where he finished ninth.
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Talladega Superspeedway... "You hope your car is the best it can be aerodynamically and that you're engine is pulling the most horsepower it can. Having a good race is dependent upon staying out of trouble. Hopefully at the end you've positioned yourself in the right pack of cars to draft with that will take you to the front."
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Returning To Talladega Superspeedway... "Going back to a place you're familiar with is always a good thing. I'm hoping the changes we made to our car after Daytona were of a benefit to us. It's always somewhat of a guessing game when you're talking about the aero packages."
Casey's Mears' Thoughts On What He Learned From Last Year's ARCA Race... "The main thing I learned from running the ARCA race last fall was what you can do as a driver to affect other cars. I learned I could actually place my car in a position that would slow down a car that's trying to pass me. I realize I still have a lot to learn about drafting."
Crew Chief Donnie Richeson's Thoughts On Racing At Talladega Superspeedway... "I'm looking forward to getting back to Talladega with Casey and our Dodge Intrepid. We did a fair amount of cutting on the body of our superspeedway car after Daytona. I would have liked to test the car after we made the changes, but we didn't have the opportunity. We'll just unload and do the best we can because we really don't get much practice time. Sometimes you don't have to have the fastest car to win the race at Talladega."
The Equipment... The Phillips 66 team will compete with "Blackjack" this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. The only other appearance for "Blackjack" this season came at Daytona in February.
