HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Nov. 3, 2000) -- Homestead-Miami Speedway will recognize the achievements of seven outstanding Miami-Dade County students and teachers by naming them Grand Marshals for the November 11 Miami 300 during the Pennzoil 400 weekend.
Students Nathaniel Spiner, Eric Seibert, Joel Salinas and Denise Diaz, along with teachers Cynthia Cato and Ginny Calehuff and principal Dr. George Ellis, will give the famed command "Gentlemen, start your engines," for the Miami 300, the final race of the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series, at 1:10 p.m. Saturday.
"Homestead-Miami Speedway takes great pride in recognizing the achievements of the students and teachers in our school system," said Curtis Gray, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway. "We think it is appropriate to reward the hard work and accomplishments of these individuals, and to spotlight the many fine schools in our area." The Greater Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce recognizes students and teachers of each quarter of the school year, in addition to the students of the year.
