CARL EDWARDS RETURNS TO HIS HOMETRACK
CONCORD, N.C. (July 26, 2006) - Carl Edwards will not be using his weekend off from Nextel Cup racing for rest and relaxation; instead he will be using the time to focus on winning Saturday nights Busch Series race in front of his hometown crowd at the Gateway International Raceway.
Edwards is from Columbia, MO, and is no stranger to the 1.25-mile Gateway International Raceway. Last year in the Busch Series race he was a contender for the win but finished third. Edwards also earned a fourth place finish in the Craftsman Truck Series at Gateway in 2003.
The team is heading to St. Louis with chassis 357, which is they same car that won with at Nashville and Loudon. A great driver, paired with a proven Ford Fusion race car, should make for an exciting race. All of Carl's family and friends will be on hand to see if he can put the No. 60 Henkel Ford in victory lane.
"I am looking forward to racing in front of my hometown crowd," said Edwards. "I will have a lot of friends and family there and I want to give them a great show. It will be awesome. We gave a great effort there last year, which makes a win even more desirable. The Nextel Cup Series is off this weekend so I can focus all my efforts on the Busch Series. This race means a lot to me and the whole Henkel crew. We are determined to get Henkel into Victory Lane!"
"We are excited to run the Henkel Ford Fusion this weekend at Gateway," said Pierre Kuetel (P.K.) Carl's crew chief. "We are hoping to have a good show for Carl and all his relatives that are coming down to visit us from Columbia, Missouri, just a few hours away. It will be great to have support from his family, hopefully we will run well and have a great showing for them."
