LEPAGE CHARGES TO ANOTHER TOP-FIVE FINISH
Kevin Lepage made a mad dash in the closing laps of the Winston Motorsports 300 at South Boston Speedway to finish fourth, his third top- five finish in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series in as many races. After the eighth and final caution of the night, Lepage was 11th in line for the restart on Lap 295 of the 300 lap event. In just five laps Lepage maneuvered the #88 HYPE/Ryder Driver Recruiting Monte Carlo to a fourth place finish. Lepage also finished fourth at Dover, as well as second at Charlotte for his three top-five finishes this season. Lepage piloted the #88 HYPE/Ryder Driver Recruiting Monte Carlo around South Boston Speedway's .4-mile oval in 16.016 seconds (89.899 mph) for the eighth spot on the starting grid. First time Busch Pole winner Shane Hall posted a fast lap time of 15.874 seconds (90.714 mph). Less than 0.3 seconds separated the starting field of 28 cars based on qualifying lap times. Four additional cars were added with provisional starting spots. Lepage ran in the top third all night, never advancing higher than fifth until taking on four new tires during the last caution. "That last caution came out at the right time for us," stated Lepage after the race. "We came in and got four Goodyear tires, which was a good call by the pit crew. The car just really worked well for us after that. That was another top-five. That's three in a row and that is what we were striving for." Lepage and the Ridling Motorsports Team's top-five performance advanced Lepage to seventh in drivers points up from 14th place after Nazareth. "Every week we get better and better," stated Lepage. "This is a great team. It won't be long before we have another win under our belt." Lepage will appear at the NASCAR Night in the Heights in Elmira Heights, NY on Thursday, June 26 prior to the Lysol 200 at Watkins Glen on June 29. Several of the BGN drivers will also participate in the Lysol Racing Bowl tournament at Paramount Lanes in Elmira Heights on Friday night. Sign up to bowl with Lepage and fellow BGN stars, or just come out and watch the fun. Proceeds will go to the Five Rivers Council, Inc./Boy Scouts of America and the NASCAR Busch Ladies Auxiliary. The HYPE simulator and souvenir trailer will also be on hand for all the weekend activities.
