Rockingham, NC (February 20th 2003) - Ron Young is ready to get his NASCAR Busch Series season underway this weekend from the track nicknamed "The Rock".
"I am absolutely thrilled about heading to North Carolina Motor Speedway this weekend." noted Young.
Ron will join his RB1 Motorsports crew at the track on Friday, hoping to qualify for the second NASCAR Busch Series race of the season. "This is our first race of the season, and we've set some standards, but on Friday, all we are worried about is qualifying for the race." stated Young.
Ron Young competed in 12 NASCAR BGN events during the course of the 2002 schedule.
When he was not piloting in his RB1 Motorsports Chevrolet, Ron could be found in the No. 63 Ken Alexander Racing Chevrolet.
During the course of the year, Ron qualified a season best of 27th in Atlanta, and finished a season high 14th at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).
However, one major problem that the team faced in 2002, is still challenging the team so far in 2003, SPONSORSHIP.
"We don't have a primary sponsor at this point, we're just keeping our heads high, spending countless hours at the shop in preparation for doing what we love RACE." said Young.
"I have to give credit to this team, most of them are volunteers and work countless amount of hours at the shop, words cannot express how much I appreciate each and every one of them."
"The economy is really tough right now and we are not the only ones suffering." he said. "We're working on a couple of things and remaining optimistic along the way."
Ron continued "If we are able to pick up sponsorship, our race schedule will increase, but at this point without the funds we have to pick and choose our events."
"If we qualify for the race, and have a solid and clean showing in the race, this entire team will load up on Saturday afternoon happy." Young concluded.
The Rockingham 200 will be aired live on FX and MRN beginning at 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2003. Qualifying for the event will take place Friday, February 21 at 1:35 pm ET and will be aired live on Speedchannel.
