SCOTT RIGGS-10-Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus (Qualified 10th) "That's about as fast as we've been. Every week is a struggle it seems like in the last 10 races. Every week we go in and it's a big battle trying to get the car where we need it to be.

"That's about as fast as we've been. Every week is a struggle it seems like in the last 10 races. Every week we go in and it's a big battle trying to get the car where we need it to be. It's definitely not a lack of effort anywhere. Everybody is doing a great job in the shop. Great motors and great cars, we just keep struggling to find the setup and the combination we need to be fast. We've been battling back all year long, especially the last two races, we've really been battling pretty hard. We didn't really qualify where we needed to. We needed to pick up about two more tenths there and really have a good, solid top-five starting position. Like I said, that's the most I got out of the car yet this weekend, and we hope we can continue to adjust on it and hopefully have a good Happy Hour."
HAVE THE TRACK CONDITIONS CHANGED FROM PRACTICE? "The track doesn't change that much, it's just hard to get a hold of and really hard to hit your line and be consistent here. You're sliding around so much here and it's temperamental about hitting your line just right. I feel like out there qualifying I was a little above where I needed to be on the first lap, and got a little too low and too free on the second lap. I thought my car was tight the first lap because I drove in a little too hard, and the second lap, I got it on the bottom and got in the gas and it was a little free under acceleration because it was getting such good bite on the bottom. It's hard to hit just the right line for qualifying."
YOU WERE THE FIRST OF THE TITLE CONTENDERS TO QUALIFY TODAY. IS THAT ADDED PRESSURE ON YOU? "Not really. I still have the same two laps I would put together now or later. I don't think there's any difference pressure-wise, it just seems like every week it's a struggle for us to get a good handle on the race car. We haven't been qualifying that well, but we have good race cars and hopefully we can do the same this weekend. Hopefully it will be a top-10 qualifying run and hopefully we can finish in the top five."
JASON KELLER-57-Albertsons Ford Taurus (Qualified 18th)
"It was definitely slower than we practiced and I don't know why. I wish I had the answer but we slowed down for some reason."
YOU HAVE FINISHED IN THE TOP 10 IN SEVEN OUT OF THE LAST EIGHT RACES HERE. DOES THAT GIVE YOU ADDED CONFIDENCE EVEN AFTER STRUGGLING IN QUALIFYING? "I don't where we missed it. We were all over the place there qualifying. We only ran one good lap in practice, and we really couldn't back that up. I don't know, we're just searching for it."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Qualified 20th)
"It was loose, simple as that. That was all you could do."' WAS THERE SOMETHING ON THE RACING SURFACE BECAUSE THE LAST FEW CARS SEEMED TO BE REALLY LOOSE? "You go up and look and the 5 car has oil everywhere. It worked for him. Now nobody else can get the pole but him."
ARE YOU SURPRISED THAT QUALIFYING HAS CONTINUED WITH OIL ON THE TRACK? "They don't know. They're trying to get us done so they can get Cup qualifying in, but the bottom line is we should have run faster. The 8 car got through it, so we should have, too. It's loose but what can you do?"
YOU HAVE ASSERTED YOURSELF INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE THE PAST FEW RACES. "We haven't even looked at it. We're here to win Rockingham and then go to Homestead and win. If we do that then the points will fall."
YOU POSTED THE SECOND FASTEST LAP IN PRACTICE. IS THAT A GOOD INDICATION OF WHAT KIND OF RACE CAR YOU HAVE THIS WEEKEND? "We've got a great race car. It's just another deal where we left the car alone and whoever went behind the 5 got loose. You can't control that kind of stuff and that's one of the bad things about going up front today. By the time the 21 goes, I'm sure it will be good. We'll just have to wait and see."
KASEY KAHNE-38-Great Clips Ford Taurus (Qualified 19th)
"I've probably been around this place more than anywhere else in a Busch car, but we haven't been very good yet today. We were just way too tight right there, tight off. It's a little surprising that the track has tightened up that much. I didn't think it would be that tight. We've been a little looser all day and that was tighter there."
HOW IMPORTANT IS TIRE MANAGEMENT HERE AND DOES THAT PLAY INTO YOUR FAVOR GIVEN YOUR RACING BACKGROUND? "The tires are gone here in hurry. You get a couple of good laps on them and then you just have to get your car handling on the long run. These are the types of tracks we always race best at. We're more consistent and we're better at tracks that eat the tires up, the cars get real loose and slide around a lot."
