ELLIOTT SADLER NORTH CAROLINA MOTOR SPEEDWAY NASCAR BUSCH SERIES NOTES
Elliott Sadler will be looking to at least duplicate his sixth-place finish from the spring race when the NASCAR Busch Series returns to the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the AC Delco 200 on October 31. During the 1998 spring event, Sadler's Phillips 66/Trop Artic Chevrolet Monte Carlo was strong. Tire wear, however, prevented him from duking it out for the win.
"We have been real good at Rockingham and we've been real bad," Sadler said. "We seem to do real good there in the spring race, but then run into trouble during the fall race. We're looking to change all that around this weekend. Saving our tires through the 200-mile race will be the key to getting a good finish at the Rock. We have a good car for this weekend and I'm looking forward to going back."
The Phillips 66 Chevrolet Sadler will compete with at the North Carolina Motor Speedway is the same car he finished sixth with during the spring event earlier this season. This particular No. 66 Chevy also has a top-five finish at Darlington in 1998.
Elliott Sadler will have the opportunity to break the top-five mark in the NASCAR Busch Series driver points standings this weekend. He is currently in sixth place, 79 points out of fifth place.
As the 1998 NASCAR Busch Series season draws closer to conclusion, another season is about to begin for Elliott Sadler. During the next couple of weeks Sadler will be preparing for his annual deer hunting season in his hometown of Emporia, Va.
"I have always said that I don't have an off season," Sadler said. "I have a hunting season. We've already started scouting and getting our hunting lodge ready for deer hunting."
