Richmond, VA --- Regan Smith is ready to tackle Richmond. Although a rain-out over a week ago caused Smith and his Mac Hill Motorsports team to miss a test session, the driver of the #56 Monte Carlo is ready for big things.
"I feel confident I learned enough last season to run well this weekend. I think if we can avoid the trouble short tracks always offer, we can gain a solid top 20 finish," Smith said.
Last weekend Smith ran well at the Gateway International Raceway. His goal entering the race was just as it is this week, to finish in the top 20. The Mac Hill gang was successful and the young Smith was very pleased with his impressive 19th place run, duplicating his finish from the previous year.
"It felt good to run well last week in St. Louis. I'm so proud of the guys," he added.
In preparation for Saturday's Funai 250 under the lights, Smith will carry Cox Communications across the hood of his blue Chevrolet. The team however, continues in their search of full-time funding.
Smith has one start at Richmond International Raceway. Last May, driving for Bost Motorsports, he started 30th and finished three laps down in 25th.
- Smith will be making his 25th career Busch Series start.
- Smith has two top twenty finishes in 5 starts this season, both coming in his last two races.
