Richmond, VA (May 1, 2000) --- In just his 31st career NASCAR Busch Series start, Jeff Purvis found his way to Victory Lane on a cold March afternoon in 1996 at Richmond International Raceway. 1996 was the first year of full-time competition for Purvis in the Busch Series after many successful years of competing in other racing divisions, (Winston Cup, ARCA, All-Pro, dirt late model.)

Driving a car owned by James Finch, Purvis led the race on three occasions for 38 laps. Purvis took the lead for the final time on lap 244 of 250 to beat Joe Nemechek to the checkered flag.

"That afternoon was a lot of fun, we had won the pole for the race and a lot of things went our way," Purvis said. "It's been a few years since I last won and it's time to put the Porter-Cable Pontiac in Victory Lane."

Purvis will also be looking for another milestone on Friday night, the $2 million dollar mark in Busch Series career earnings. Purvis currently stands at $1,986,493 in earnings in 131 career starts.

The Hardee's 250 will take the green flag Friday night at 7:30pm EDT.
