CIRCUIT CITY AND FUNAI RETURN AS SPONSORS OF SPRING NASCAR BUSCH SERIES RACE AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Richmond, VA (January 17, 2007)--Circuit City Stores, Inc., a leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics and related services headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, will team up with FUNAI Corporation, Inc. for the second consecutive year to sponsor the 2007 May NASCAR Busch Series race at Richmond International Raceway. The Circuit City 250 Presented by FUNAI will run "under the lights" on Friday, May 4, and will feature some of the best short-track action on the circuit.
"Richmond International Raceway is thrilled to have Circuit City and FUNAI on board again for our spring NASCAR Busch Series race," said track president Doug Fritz. "We are happy to continue our excellent relationship with both Circuit City and FUNAI Corporation. Circuit City is one of Richmond's most successful companies and we are pleased they are returning as the event sponsor of one of our major races."
Last year's Circuit City 250 Presented by FUNAI was a thrilling race to the checkered flag at America's Premier Short Track. Kevin Harvick, who has won three consecutive NASCAR Busch Series races at Richmond International Raceway, took the lead from Paul Menard with 48 laps to go and held off a hard charge from Virginia native Jeff Burton. The race had a decidedly Virginia flavor. Not only was the race sponsored by a Richmond-based company in Circuit City, but eight Virginia natives competed in the race: Burton, Elliott Sadler, Denny Hamlin, Ashton Lewis Jr., Jon Wood, Stacy Compton, Mark McFarland and Danny O'Quinn Jr.
Tickets are now available for the Circuit City 250 Presented by FUNAI NASCAR Busch Series race on Friday, May 4. Advance tickets are $45 (reserved) and $35 (general admission). Tickets on race day are $50 (reserved) and $40 (general admission). Children 12 and under are admitted free in general admission sections with a ticketed adult.
