MOORESVILLE, NC--Steve Plattenberger will be the crew chief for FitzBradshaw Racing's Tim Fedewa and the No. 12 Supercuts/Hot Tamales team for the duration of the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series season. Team co-owner Armando Fitz announced the hiring today and noted Plattenberger's duties will begin this weekend in Dover.
"We are excited to have Steve join our team and come on for the last few races to help Timmy out," said Fitz. "Timmy has done a great job being a leader for this team over the second half of this season, so I think this will just help him and the team. I think Steve can provide the day-to-day leadership of a crew chief this team has been missing."
Fedewa is ready to have a full-time crew chief that he has been missing for the latter part of 2004.
"We started the season with a crew chief and from there it's really been me and the guys on the team sticking together," said Fedewa. "They have worked really hard and it's been tough on all of us. I just think that to have Steve in here, in the shop and at the track all the time will take a little of the pressure of everybody and make things run a lot smoother."
Plattenberger comes to FitzBradshaw from ST Motorsports where he worked on both the No. 47 and No. 59 team. He served as crew chief for driver Stacey Compton in the 2003 NBS season.
"I am very excited to be joining FitzBradshaw Racing and teaming up with Tim," said Plattenberger. "He's a veteran driver with a lot of ability and smarts and I think we can end the season on a high note."
FitzBradshaw Racing is owned by NASCAR veteran Armando Fitz and Pro Football Hall of Fame member and FOX broadcaster Terry Bradshaw. The team fields three cars in the NASCAR Busch Series: the No. 12 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sponsored by Supercuts, Hot Tamales, and Bicycle Playing Cards; the No. 14 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, sponsored by the Navy; and the No. 82 Chevrolet Monte Carlo sponsored by Jani-King and Goulds Pumps.
FitzBradshaw Racing is featured on the SPEED Channel reality show NBS 24/7. The show airs every Monday night at 8:00 p.m. and re-airs Mondays at midnight, Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.
