Jay Robinson Racing Press Release Charlotte, NC (Thursday, July 24th, 2003) - - Jay Robinson Racing, LLC heads to Pikes Peak this weekend in an effort to rebound from a disappointing weekend from the New England 200 at New Hampshire International Speedway last Saturday.

Tammy Jo Kirk, making her first start in the NASCAR Busch Series was having a solid run in her No. 49 Ford Taurus, before the engine seized leaving what looked to be a promising debut to a 34th place finish.

Derrike Cope, who piloted Jay Robinson Racing second entry last weekend, also was struck with bad luck. The No. 39 carrying Friendly's Ice Cream, also the primary sponsor of Cope's No. 37 NASCAR Winston Cup machine suffered brake problems just 34 laps into the 200 lap event leaving the 1990 Daytona 500 champion with a miserable 35th place finish.

"I hate that we had an engine problem," said Tammy Jo. "The entire Jay Robinson Racing crew worked very hard all throughout the weekend with hopes of scoring a top twenty finish, however that's racing and will march forward."

Kirk also added "I would have liked to have scored a better finish for Advil, our sponsor, but we have made a lot of progress in just one weekend, and I am confident that we will bounce back and give them something to talk about."

For Cope, it was frustrating.

"We really wanted to have a good run in the No. 39 Friendly's Ice Cream Ford, but the brakes did not go our way today," mentioned Cope. "I'm not sure when my next NASCAR Busch Series race is, but we gave it our best this weekend and that is what counts."

Tammy Jo Kirk returns to Pikes Peak this weekend for the second time in her NASCAR career, while Jamie Mosley will be making his NASCAR Busch Series debut at the track.

Mosley, will return to the driving duties of the No. 39 Jay Robinson Racing Ford Taurus, while Tammy Jo Kirk, will be in the No. 49 Advil Ford Taurus.

"I am really excited about heading to Pikes Peak this weekend," said Jamie. "I've only competed in two NASCAR Busch Series events, but we've been pretty solid in both races, which leads us with the same goal this weekend, the best finish possible," said the former ARCA RE/MAX Series driver.

In those two events, Mosley has finished 21st, and 26th respectively from Nashville Superspeedway and Chicagoland Speedway.

For Kirk, she is excited about returning to the track.

"I raced at Pikes Peak back in 1998 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and I am just thrilled to have the opportunity to race there again."

Tammy, a native of Georgia also added, "The goal for the weekend is a top twenty finish." "We want to qualify as close to the front as possible, and bring the car home in one piece, if we do that we'll be pretty pleased."

Tammy Jo Kirk, who is the first female to ever win an AMA Expert Division event, continues to boast about her sponsor. "I am honored to have Advil on board this No. 49 for the remainder of the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series season."

"They are a terrific company, and a huge supporter of this operation, so I am hoping that we can make them proud with some good finishes the rest of the year."

In the interim, Jamie Mosley talks about the opportunity to work with Tammy Jo Kirk.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to work with Tammy this weekend." "I know that we will be strong teammates both on and off the track and I hope that our combination will bring Jay Robinson Racing everything that they are looking for."

In addition to racing, Tammy has hit the computer and has joined CATCHFENCE.com for the rest of the year to discuss her rookie season in the NASCAR Busch Series. Every week Tammy will write a column and talk about her previous race, from practice to qualifying to even events off the track, she'll talk about it all. "I am thrilled to have teamed up with CATCHFENCE.com for the rest of the season," said Kirk.

"To share my thoughts and my experience in the NASCAR Busch Series is incredible and I am glad to have joined CATCHFENCE, and hope everyone enjoys what they read.

Mosley, a former dirt track competitor is expected to be in the No. 39 Ford Taurus for the remainder of the 2003 season beginning at Michigan International Speedway.

"We're hoping to make an announcement after IRP." "I have a prior commitment, so I will be unable to run that event, (IRP) but the team has a good driver for the car, and I'll be rooting them on, and if everything goes as planned it will be a great rest of the season," said the London, Kentucky native.

The NASCAR Busch Series rolls into Pikes Peak International Raceway this weekend for the running of the TrimSpa Body 250 presented by Dodge. The 21st race of the NBS schedule is set to take the green flag this Saturday, July 26th, 2003 at 3:30pm EST with live coverage on NBC and MRN radio.
