Bill Penfold prepares for Riverside race

Bill Penfold and the Penfold Motorsports Team will take to the track at Riverside Park Speedway this Saturday night for the 150 lap Busch North Series race there. It will be the first time Busch North teams are allowed to pit in the infield during the event.

"If everything goes well, it should be a big plus to pit in the infield rather than leaving the track to change a flat or something," Bill Penfold said. "If you left the track in the past to pit, you could lose quite a few laps. But pitting in the infield will save a lot of time and could be the difference between a top ten and last place here, that's very important for the teams that are battling for the championship."

Penfold finished 20th in this race last season, which was won by Tom Carey. He had been running well before problems took him out of the top ten. He knows the competition will be tough again this year on the tight 1/4 mile oval.

"We will have the same car we took to Lee two weeks ago," said Penfold. "The VIP Charters - neracing.com Chevy was very strong at Lee, but a mid race incident caused us a 15th place finish. We had a problem during qualifying that caused us to run further back than we wanted, and this hurt us as we had to fight our way through traffic. We will be ready for a good qualifying run at Riverside. We expect a good race."
