HARRISBURG, N.C. Gordon-Evernham Motorsports has selected Patrick Donahue as the crew chief who will launch the newly formed No. 24 NASCAR Busch Series team into the 1999 season.

Donahue has served as mechanic for the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Winston Cup team which has achieved three Winston Cup championships in the last four years with driver Jeff Gordon and crew chief Ray Evernham.

Patrick's transition to crew chief is a perfect fit for our race team's plan to provide up-and-coming talented individuals with an opportunity to progress in their career, said Evernham.

Donahue's role as crew chief includes handling day-to-day and race event responsibilities surrounding race car performance.

"This is a great opportunity to further my career," said Donahue. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and to working closely with our team manager, Michael Landis."

Gordon-Evernham Motorsports is owned by Brooke Gordon and Ray Evernham and will field cars for Jeff Gordon and Ricky Hendrick on a limited schedule in 1999 with sponsorship support from Pepsi, Frito-Lay and Hasbro's Winner Circle.
