Trio of penalties issued to No. 19 NASCAR Busch Series team.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 1, 2003) -- NASCAR officials announced today that a trio of penalties have been issued to the No. 19 Dodge team that competes in the NASCAR Busch Series, due to rule infractions discovered last week at Texas Motor Speedway, prior to the O'Reilly 300.

Driver Chad Blount has been penalized by the loss of 25 driver points; car owner Todd Braun has been assessed 25 owner points; and crew chief Patrick Donahue has been fined $5,000 and suspended from the next two NASCAR Busch Series events the No. 19 enters and competes in.

During the weekend's initial inspection process, the No. 19 was found to have rear hubs that were improperly modified, with the intent being weight reduction. That was a violation of Section 12-4-Q in the NASCAR Busch Series rule book (parts and/or equipment used that do not conform to NASCAR rules) and Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing).
