MARTIN BRODEUR GOES FROM CREASE TO GREASE FOR MONTREAL RACE
Three-Time Vezina Award Winner Joins NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle's Cub Cadet Pit Crew to Benefit The Quebec Breakfast Club
MONTREAL, June 29, 2007 -- Hockey icon Martin Brodeur will be donning a different uniform this summer when the NASCAR Busch Series Montreal 200 races into town August 3-4, 2007. Joining forces with Cub Cadet and NASCAR superstar Greg Biffle, Brodeur will become a member of the No. 37 Cub Cadet Pit Crew for Brewco Motorsports during the race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
To celebrate their partnership, Brodeur and Biffle are raising money for The Quebec Breakfast Club, which will appear on the hood of the Cub Cadet No. 37 Ford throughout race weekend.
As part of the multi-tiered fundraising effort, Cub Cadet will donate $15,000 to the charity via cash and in-kind contributions including a 4x4 Cub Cadet utility vehicle to be auctioned off during Brodeur's annual charity golf event, benefiting the same philanthropy.
"I can't wait to join the Cub Cadet Racing team and play a part of the action in the pits," said NHL goalie Martin Brodeur. "Even more fulfilling is the opportunity to raise money and awareness for The Quebec Breakfast Club."
In his new role as a pit crew member, 2007 Vezina Trophy winner Brodeur will hold the position of sign man. While he won't "go over the wall" like his new teammates, Brodeur will be in full fire suit to help direct Biffle's car to the pit box after reaching speeds close to 200 m.p.h.Driver of the No. 37 Cub Cadet Ford, Greg Biffle added, "I know he's made a living keeping people and pucks out of his crease, but in this case we'll need to train him so he lets me in."
The specially-designed paint scheme for the No. 37 Cub Cadet Ford is currently being created by Brodeur's goalie equipment provider Reebok/CCM and will be unveiled prior to the race.
"It's an honor to have Martin Brodeur and The Quebec Breakfast Club join the Cub Cadet team," said MTD Director of Marketing Tim Coughlin."What better way to celebrate NASCAR in Canada than to have Quebec's and Canada's favorite son help us champion one of the region's most impactful charities -- The Quebec Breakfast Club."
The Quebec Breakfast Club is committed to ensuring that all children in Quebec have two essential elements to get the most out of their day at school: a nutritious meal and a nourishing environment.Every morning throughout Quebec, The Quebec Breakfast Club provides meals to 15,000 children.
This race will help us further advocate the importance nutrition plays in the lives of our youth," said Daniel Germain, President, The Quebec Breakfast Club."Support from people like Greg Biffle and Martin Brodeur will help drive awareness of our work and encourage others to support our mission either financially or by volunteering."
