NAZARETH, Pa. (May 18, 1997) Driver quotes from the CoreStates Advantage 200 NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division race at Nazareth Speedway:
ELLIOTT SADLER No. 29 Phillips 66 Chevrolet
"We had an awesome qualifying run, and we got our first win, so maybe Lady Luck will stay with us for a while. We've worked so hard together --- this is truly a family sport --my brother (Hermie) and I and our teammates and our crews... Todd was really pushing me at the end, and I was glad that we could just hold on -- especially when we got into lapped traffic. I just couldn't be happier to get my first win here today."
JEFF GREEN No. 8 Diamond Ridge Motorsports Chevrolet
"Mike McLaughlin worked me to death. I really wanted to get up there and race. But everyone stayed together up there and didn't take each other out. And there is not a scratch on our car; so now we can work on it for Charlotte. We had to work on it a little bit today and now we know what needs to be done for Charlotte."
MIKE MCLAUGHLIN No. 34 Royal Oak Chevrolet
"The car was good for a while, and then it went away. It got loose and started to push. Some rubber buildup made the tires bounce really bad."
RANDY LAJOIE No. 74 FINA Chevrolet
"We were almost a lap down at one point, trying to fix the toe-in that got knocked out when we wrecked. We started moving up and then back again. I'm pretty tickled with the day. We came back. We finished third. We dodged some big bullets here today! We need to get our program back on track for Charlotte and for the rest of the races. We're going to Charlotte with our guns loaded. We need to win some races. We worked hard today and were able to stay in front in points. So, I got my first win here -- a lot of guys have had their first win here. I'm happy for Sadler -- those guys have worked hard. But I'm tickled with the way things worked out for us today."
DICK TRICKLE No. 64 Dura Lube Chevrolet
"We got squished from behind between Randy (LaJoie) and the car in front. The crew replaced the radiator, but we could only go back out and run around for points. We had a good car today, but that's just the way it goes sometimes."
JASON KELLER No. 57 Slim Jim Chevrolet
"The car was real strong in the straights but hard to get goin' on the re-starts. We've had a string of bad luck qualifying 13th --- like last weekend at Loudon, and wrecking under caution. We were hoping for a little break in the luck...so I guess even a seventh place finish was an improvement."
PHIL PARSONS No. 10 Channellock Chevrolet
"The car was really tight even after we made an air pressure adjustment. We just kept falling back. We blistered a right rear tire, too. It was just one of those days."
STEVE PARK No. 3 ACDelco Chevrolet
"The car was really running great today! We were practically on cruise control. Then I felt a skip in the motor, but we thought it might be the ignition, too. I tried switching ignition boxes during the caution, but it ended up being an inner valve spring. But you know, even on seven cylinders, we were able to stay right there with the top five cars, and that says a lot. But we started dropping liquid, and that was the end of our day. This ACDelco Monte Carlo is a strong car. It's a really good car. We'll just have to pick up the pieces and move ahead. The motor just let us down today."
