HOW WAS THE TRACK SURFACE? "When the Busch Series was here last year, they complained how slick the race track was in certain spots and it was hairy in places, and they came back and ground and put texture, ground grooves in the race track and they did an awesome job. When we came back here in the trucks, we had monster grip and it had the same here today."
HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE DID YOU HAVE COMING INTO THE WEEKEND, KNOWING THAT YOU'VE WON HERE LAST YEAR? "We've been to a couple of places this year and we had confidence and couldn't quite put anything together and something happened during the race that kept us out of Victory Lane. This is just another race track that we've been to. I've been here before and the only thing that I have as advantage at this place of everyone else on the Busch Series is that I knew where Victory Lane was; that's about all. Like I said, the track changed some in practice and Happy Hour and I have to give this to Harold Holly, my crew chief. He has a gift for being able to vision what the race track and what the race car is seeing and see tendencies and things the car needs."
WERE YOU WORRIED A BOUT JACK SPRAGUE? "Jack rubbed me and gave me a donut right there at the end, so me and Jack we have had our differences before in the past, but Jack is a good hard, competitor and I've got a lot of respect for him and he's given me a lot of respect back. I don't think he laid back, I don't think he was saving anything. I think he's just like me and was trying as hard as he can and wanted to go as quick as he can."
HOW DID THE TRACK CONDITIONS CHANGE? "That's the good thing about concrete. The rain really didn't play a big part. I know that the race track was cleaned before we started the race. That concrete had so much grip anyway, and the tires just add more grip and really tightens up the car. We kept freeing it up all day. I think that if the asphalt track, the weather changes and the Hoosier rubber on it yesterday from the ARCA Series, I think it would have made it different. Goodyear brought a good tire to a great race track."
WHY HAVE YOU BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL THIS YEAR? "I'm the only new person at ppc racing this year. Every single person has been on that team for at least three years. Some guys have been together on the same team for up to nine years. When you have that kind of stability in your corner and that kind of chemistry where you've won a championship and running up front the past couple of years, you can't help but run good. I'm just happy to have had the opportunity to be with such an awesome team with all the guys working together and I really feel that I fit into the group."
WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH YOUR MIND THE LAST COUPLE OF LAPS? "I was just praying that there wouldn't be caution and that we could stay out in clean air."
