Compton at Nashville: Compton's first race in Nashville as a Busch Series driver was on April 13. He finished ninth in the Pepsi 300 working his way through the field from the 41st spot. Since the Winston Cup Series will be at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA this weekend, Compton will be dividing his time between two tracks. David Green, 1994 Busch Series champion, will be qualifying the No. 59 car for Compton on Friday. According to NASCAR rules, Compton will have to start the Busch Series race at the end of the race line regardless of qualifying position.
Compton on Nashville: "Once again, I'm not excited about starting the race at the rear, but we'll use the same strategy we used in April. We struggled with the chassis and motor last time, but I was able to work my way up to the front and avoided getting tangled up in traffic. The team will be working to gain spots coming off pit road and hope that cautions will work in our favor."
Crew Chief's Comments: "We will be loading up T-2 the car we ran tenth with at Darlington and 13th with at Nazareth. Dave Green will be driving the car in practice and qualifying. His input will be critical in getting Stacy a car he will be comfortable with for the race." Steve Plattenberger
Last Race at Nashville: Rookie Scott Riggs was the winner in April with a margin of victory of 2.942 seconds over Jack Sprague. Shane Hmiel won the Bud Pole Award. There were 7 cautions for 54 laps and 13 lead changes among 10 drivers.
Double Duty: Compton is also running the full NASCAR Winston Cup Series schedule in the No. 14 Conseco Pontiac owned by A.J. Foyt Racing. Last week in Dover he qualified 32nd and finished in 24th-place.
