Notes & Quotes
The Equipment... "Chumley" is the car the Phillips 66 team will compete with this weekend in the "Inside Traxx 300" at Nashville Superspeedway. "Chumley" made its last appearance at Nazareth Speedway where Mears finished 15th. "Chumley" is also the same car the team competed with at Richmond and New Hampshire earlier this season.
A Good Start... The Phillips 66 team scored one of its top qualifying efforts of the season last weekend at Dover International Speedway with a 12th-place start. The team's best qualifying effort came at Las Vegas in March when they qualified third.
At Nashville In April... While running in the top-10 with less than 50 laps remaining in the race, a lapped car made contact with the No. 66 Dodge in turn one, causing damage to the right front fender. Mears finished 23rd.
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Returning To Nashville Superspeedway... "I definitely feel better about returning to a track that I've been to before and raced. Based upon how well we ran there in April, it makes me anxious to get back there. If we can repeat what we did there in April with the addition of putting the finishing touches on the race, we'll have good results."
Crew Chief Donnie Richeson's Thoughts On Racing At Night In Nashville... "We've never raced there at night and neither has anybody else. We'll kind of be winging it because we really don't have any information to rely upon. I expect the speeds to be faster because of the cooler air and the tires will grip a little better, too. We'll just have to wait and see if the balance of the car is affected by the nighttime conditions."
