WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL? "It was the motor again. This is the second week in a row we've exited the race early because of motor problems. You can't race without an engine and there's just no way you can win a points championship like this."
MIKE WALLACE-4-GEICO/Sport Clips Ford Taurus (Finished 38th)
ARE YOU OK, AND WHAT HAPPENED? "I feel a little bit of it, but it hit really, really hard. It's a shame, but I'll be fine. I'm just disappointed for the team, myself, GEICO and Sport Clips, everyone involved in that race program. We had a tire problem and came down pit road and got some fresh tires, and we thought we were going to be all right and thought it was going to go green-flag stops. Suddenly it appeared a lapped car there - we were a lap this time but going back forward - spun out underneath Sauter there and I went to go around him and caught him and bounced off the wall. It's a shame but the guys will rebound, and I guess I'll try to get back and go to Hickory and watch my daughter run her Legend car tonight."
STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Beans Ford Taurus (Finished 14th)
"I couldn't see a whole lot there at the end, just smoke. It's so frustrating after the way we started the race, sitting there and running third with a car capable of winning and then to struggle to stay on the lead lap. It's just an aggravating day. We had a good race car early on and it just got away from us a little bit, and we could never seem to get it back. It's frustrating when you have a car good enough early to come through there and take the lead and win the race. The tire wear wasn't very good today. They were good tires, and I don't know if it was the track, but a lot people had tire problems and we were one of them. It was an OK finish, but certainly not what we were looking for."
DOES GOODYEAR NEED TO BRING A DIFFERENT TIRE IN JUNE? "I think we need to come back with a different tire, but I also think they need to find a way to clean the track better. It was half of a groove today and any time anybody got outside of it, you were chasing the car to not back it in. I don't know if they need to bring a better tire or NASCAR needs to do a better job of cleaning the track, but it was pretty messy today."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Finished 27th)
"You really have to tattle on the tire this week. After five or six laps you'd have a caution, just the way the debris was and everything, and we were cutting down tires left and right."
DID TEAMS SET THE CARS UP FOR COOLER TEMPERATURES AND WAS THAT A CAUSE FOR EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR? "No, the tire was too soft for this place."
WHAT DID YOU SEE AT THE END OF THE RACE? "I was asking them what happened. I just couldn't believe the 99 won."
A LOT OF THE POINT CONTENDERS HAD PROBLEMS TODAY. "Forget about the points. We said that before and we're sticking by it now. We just have to get some luck. The finish today shows just how lucky you can be, and the dominate cars don't always win."
ROBERT PRESSLEY-47-Clorox/Wisk Ford Taurus (Finished 11th)
"I don't know how we missed the wreck at the end. All I saw was smoke and the spotter was telling me to go high. Man, I was up high and all I saw was the 22 and somebody else up in the air. We cut under them and kept digging to get through it."
IS THIS THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON THAT TIRE WEAR WAS AN ISSUE? "If you're going to have tire trouble, it's going to be here and Dover. We got by in Bristol. We got through Bristol, and here we had some tire problems, but the race track was really green. Late in the race I don't think anybody had that bad of a deal, I just don't think we knew it was going to be so green at the start."
