Watkins Glen, NY (May 15, 2000) - Watkins Glen International officially opened last weekend by hosting the Heart Association's Heart Walk and Opening Day festivities. Now the track is preparing for the arrival of the NASCAR Busch Series. Stars from the Busch Series are scheduled to test at the 2.45-mile road course on Wednesday, May 17.
Wednesday's test session is open and fans that have purchased Lysol 200 or Bully Hill Vineyards 150 tickets will be admitted free of charge. Visiting fans should present their Lysol 200 / Bully Hill Vineyards 150 tickets at the gate to gain free admission or pick up a voucher at the ticket office if they have not received their event tickets yet. All other spectators can take in the action for only $5.00 at the gate. Gate 4 will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday only.
Watkins Glen is expecting several teams from the NASCAR Busch Series to attend, including Ron Fellows, runner-up from last year's Lysol 200 and driver of the No. 87 Bully Hill Vineyards Chevrolet for Joe Nemechek. Fellows will be attempting to sweep all three major NASCAR events for NEMCO Motorsports this year at Watkins Glen. In 1999, Fellows won the Bully Hill Vineyards 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and finished runner-up in both the Lysol 200 NASCAR Busch Series event and the NASCAR Winston Cup Series race. Elton Sawyer will also be on-hand to practice his No. 98 Lysol Ford Taurus for the June 25th Lysol 200.
Tickets for the Lysol 200 / Bully Hill Vineyards 150 are now available. For ticket, reserved camping, or additional information, contact the Watkins Glen ticket office at 607-535-2481 or log on to the official Watkins Glen web site at www.theglen.com .
