SCOTT RIGGS-10-Nestle Nesquik Ford Taurus (Finished 7th)
"I'm just glad to see those guys get to victory lane. We were running really hard there and then I sort of tried to conserve my tires and save my car. Even though I tried to save it, the right-front finally just gave up. I thought that on that last caution that I could cool the tire off and come back, but I went down into the corner and it really chattered the tire bad. I've got to give it to my guys. They got me out of the pits first twice today, so my hat's off to all of the guys on the Nesquik Ford. >From where we were yesterday with the little bit of practice that we got, we made some great gains. You hate it that you fell off so bad at the end. You hate to see that last caution because it was so tight I couldn't race it and they just drove off right by me."
YOU AND KELLER BATTLED EACH OTHER HARD AT THE END. "I think we were still driving aggressively. That's how respectable drivers are supposed to race each other."
NOW THAT THE MIDPOINT OF THE SEASON IS HERE, ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE PROGRESS THIS TEAM HAS MADE FROM THE END OF LAST SEASON? "I'm very satisfied with them, very satisfied with way everything is coming together with the communication. Like I say, we finally got us a top 10. We've got some top-fives and everything lese. I wish we could have gotten a top-three here today, but it was so bad at the end, I just couldn't believe how bad it got. We dodged a lot of wrecks today, a lot of bullets and were able to bring the car home in one piece and we just get to be stronger at the next race."
IS THE FACT YOU WERE ABLE TO RACE YOUR TEAMMATE SO HARD AT THE END A SIGN OF RESPECT? "Yeah, of course. We give each other more respect than we give anyone else."
BOBBY HAMILTON, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Finished 10th)
"The track was about the same as yesterday, but the car felt like it was on top of the race track a little bit. To come out of here with a top 10 is fine. It's funny when you get irritated when you've got a top-10 car. Some better tracks are coming for us. We just missed it today, as simple as that. We're just human and I think it's disappointing because of how fast we were in Happy Hour, but we didn't lose anything in points. We gained a little bit on some people and we'll just go to Daytona next and try to avoid that mess."
HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT TO PASS ON THE TRACK TODAY? "It was really hard to pass because the outside groove didn't have a lot of rubber. Whoever was on the outside, if you tried to pass a car on the outside you couldn't pass them because you were trying to run low and you'd get free off the corner. It was so many variables. But, the best team won here. They had it dialed in and all you can do is learn to make it better."
DID YOU HAVE ANY FUEL CONCERNS AT THE END? "None."
JASON KELLER-57-Albertsons Ford Taurus (Finished 1st)
YOUR SEASON HAS TURNED AROUND FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIG CHANGE FOR THIS TEAM? "Well, just believing in each other. We have some new guys on pit road as far as our pit crew and we've just been giving them time. We had an awesome race car all race long, but I was really, really careful around lapped cars. I didn't want to show it until it was time and it was a rocket those last 10 laps; I was having fun."
WAS FUEL A CONCERN AT THE END GIVEN HOW HARD YOU WERE RACING YOUR TEAMMATE? "It was real hard. I didn't want to get up there and rough my teammate up any at all. He raced me clean and I raced him clean. What I didn't want to see happen was let the 5 get up there to us; that's what I was a little worried about. It's just a great race. I saved some just in case I had to race the 5 there at the end. It was a great race."
YOU FINISHED SECOND HERE LAST YEAR AND WON THE EVENT THIS YEAR. WHAT HAS HELPED YOU FIGURE THIS PLACE OUT? "It's really slick, and it reminds me of Greenville-Pickens back home. We had a great race car. I knew we had a great car yesterday in Happy Hour. I didn't get excited yesterday, though, because sometimes you have a good car in Happy Hour and shoot yourself in the foot in the race. I just hung in there."
