Talladega, AL - Goulds Pumps NASCAR Busch Series driver Mike McLaughlin will look to improve his finishing spot of last week by one position this weekend as he races in the Touchstone Energy 300. McLaughlin recorded his top finish of the year in Nashville Saturday afternoon, finishing second to winner Randy Lajoie. The Waterloo, NY native will carry a five-race streak of top-ten starting spots at Talladega into the race. McLaughlin's worst starting position ever at the 2.66 mile superspeedway is 12th, in 1994.

"Hopefully we can add to the momentum of last week and earn ourselves another top-five finish this weekend," McLaughlin said. "I have had some great cars in Talladega in the past, but have had trouble finishing races there for different reasons. The two times that I ran every lap, I ended up with top-ten finishes, I hope that's the case on Saturday."

McLaughlin and his Goulds Pumps Racing Team will be looking for a trouble-free race and another top finish on Saturday. ESPN2 and Motor Racing Network will provide live coverage of the event at 3:30pm EDT.

Ø McLaughlin will make his 200th career Busch Grand National start this weekend. McLaughlin made his Busch Series debut in 1984 and competed part time until 1994. Since September of 1994 McLaughlin has made 159 consecutive starts in the Busch Series, the longest current streak.

Last season, McLaughlin led 16 laps of the Touchstone Energy 300 before being involved in a multi-car accident on lap 70. McLaughlin's team made repairs allowing him to finish the race in 21st place.
