ROAD RACING SOUTH OF THE BORDER
* When John Andretti hits the track at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, it will not be his first time on the road course. Andretti competed in a nations challenge in Mexico City nearly 20 years ago. He was one of two drivers representing the U.S. at the Mexican track.
* Not a rookie to road racing, Andretti already has one impressive win under his belt. He won the Gold Coast Grand Prix PPG/CART race in Surfers Paradise, Australia the first time he entered.
* The #10's primary chassis is a brand new race car built in house. The back-up chassis is the car Michel Jourdain raced in last year's Mexico City Busch Series race.
* Andretti and the #10 team come into the third race of the season 26th is both driver and owner point standings. Andretti currently sits third in the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year standings.
ANDRETTI ON ROAD RACING
"I like all kinds of racing, I think we should not only run road racing but run on dirt too. Road racing is a big part of what we do. To win a championship you should have to race on all sorts of tracks. When they added Mexico, they added Watkins Glen back for the Busch cars, and I think that's good. I wish we raced Sonoma as well! A road race will never be cookie cutter like the 11/2 mile tri-ovals. When you race on them week in and week out it can get mountainous."
ANDRETTI ON THE TELCEL-MOTOROLA 200 AND MEXICO CITY
"Mexico City is not an overly complicated track, but it's more of a rhythm track like Sears Point which I do better on that the stop and go tracks like Watkins Glen. I'm really looking forward to the race. At the beginning I'll be at a disadvantage since I'll be learning what these guys already know from last year but it won't be my first new road race that's for sure. Who knows, the first year we went to Australia I won in Indy cars so I think I'm a quick learner."
