WHAT HAPPENED? "It looks like it broke a head off the intake valve. I don't know what caused that. We looked at the tach and we didn't over-rev it. They went through all of the filters this morning and didn't see anything. It's probably just a freak thing. It's rare you have a problem with Roush-Yates motors, and we'll just push forward and go to Vegas and see if we can't find our luck."


DAVID GREEN-27-Kleenex Ford Fusion (Finished 35th)

WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL? "This is two years in a row. It's the same transmission guy, and it's getting pretty sick and tired of all of this stuff that's happening. I'd be the first to admit if I missed a gear or something like that. If there was one thing I wanted to do today it was finish to get Kleenex and Ford and all of our sponsors a good opportunity down here in Mexico, but going down the straightaway the thing popped out of gear. To not have any gears two years in a row is kind of tough to swallow. We'll change it, go back out there and see what happens."


MICHEL JOURDAIN, JR.-15-Roshfrans/Canals Ford Fusion (Finished 38th)

WHAT HAPPENED? "It's very unfortunate. We had to make an extra stop early on because we were losing water. After that we were running OK and we could make until the end. We were waiting for that yellow and it came to us. There were still 20-some laps to go, and I don't know what Kyle was thinking because he hurt himself - not as much as myself - and I don't know what some guys think. I don't know what Kyle was thinking. He went to the outside like it was the last lap. There were still 20-some laps to go, and I don't know what he was thinking; he put me in the wall. He went outside, inside, and I don't know how guys like this sometimes win races when they drive like this. He hurt himself. He had a good chance at winning the race and he killed it. This race is so important for us, and finally we were able to put this deal together last minute, and it was so important for us to run good and get a good finish. This killed it."


ASHTON LEWIS, JR.-25-Team Marines Ford Fusion (Finished 13th)

"We started off real tight, but we never really got it better, to be honest with you. It stayed as tight as it was all day long. It was good enough to race, but where I struggled the most was the chicane, and that killed me as far as passing a lot of people. I kinda got fortunate with a lot of people making mistakes and running off in front of me and playing it cool. We were good enough to pass some cars, don't get me wrong there, but it was just kind of a smart race for us. I thought we had a really good strategy going into it, but it didn't work out. I thought we were going to get better track position there at the end of it, and then just hold our own, but we still had to fight a little more than I wanted to at the end."

WERE YOU SURPRISED THERE WEREN'T ANY INCIDENCES IN THE CHICANE? "I think everybody understood how fast you were going through the chicane, and they saw how hard you can wreck there last year. It still got pretty crazy down in one and through four and the esses and seven, which is really the only place to pass. It was still pretty wild."


JON WOOD-47-Clorox/American Red Cross Ford Fusion (Finished 27th)

"The guy that driving the 90 car, guys like him think they have nothing to lose and everything to prove, and he doesn't realize that we're racing 33 more races than he is. It's just frustrating to come here and race the guys that I race every week, as clean as we can race and have someone like that cause a problem - cause many problems. We had a really good race car. On the upside I'm glad that we're fast because that softens the blow of not having a good finish."

YOU AND CARL EDWARDS BATTLED IN THE CLOSING LAPS BEFORE THE INCIDENT? "When you've got two guys that have respect for each other like that, that's not going to happen. When you've got somebody that has no respect, that's when problems start. Overall we were a lot better prepared and we had better race cars, and our on-track performance showed. We didn't have the results to show for it, but in my eyes it was a good day."

RATE YOU OVERALL EXPERIENCE IN MEXICO. "I'm least likely to get in trouble here than I am in America."


DANNY O'QUINN-50-World Financial Group Ford Fusion (Finished 26th)

"We're happy with the way the car came out of it. We're definitely not happy with the finish, but we had motor problems all day, and I think that was the majority of our problem. We had a miss in the motor and we're not exactly sure what it was, but we'll go back and figure it out. I got plenty of seat time out there today. I think had we not had that problem, we had a pretty good race car. I definitely learned a lot. We couldn't really hang with those guys, but I definitely got to see a lot. We'll take this and it will make us 100 percent better when we go to Watkins Glen."

TALK ABOUT YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE THE U.S.? "It's definitely a lot different than what I thought. The race track was pretty much what I expected, but this is a wild place down here. It's pretty fun to come out of the country, though, and see the different cultures and see how they race down here. All in all, it was a fun experience. We've just got to learn from it and make it better."


CARL EDWARDS-60-Ameriquest Mortgage Ford Fusion (Finished 8th)

"That's the best that we've run all weekend so I'm proud of our top-10 finish. Mine was vapor locking real bad and I couldn't go on the starts, so Kyle got underneath me there and I tired to out-brake him, and I locked the rears up a little bit and got off the course. I thought that I had to give him the spot back, so I gave it back to him. It was a great race and everybody did a great job, I thought. Everybody did wonderful."

WERE THERE ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRACK CONFIGURATION? "I think everybody did a great job, honestly. People were giving more than they were taking, and at a place like this you have to do that. I was proud of everybody."

RATE YOUR EXPERIENCE HERE THIS WEEKEND. "I was thinking about it as I was running around out there, 'this is a blast.' I hope we come back every year. This is fun."


TODD KLUEVER-06-3M Ford Fusion (Finished 32nd)

WHAT PUT YOU BEHIND THE WALL? "The driver just missed a shift on the last restart and blew up the transmission. I thought that our pit strategy was really good. Mike Kelley did a good job with that. I thought that our driver was not very good. I need to do a lot better in these. I need to take it upon myself to get better."

HOW WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE OUT OF THE COUNTRY? "I had a fun time. It was cool to see another country. It was a good time, but I'm just disappointed with the outcome."


MARC GOOSENS-90-CitiFinancial Ford Fusion (Finished 9th)

"I think we had a chance to be up there, but something went wrong on that pit stop when I was leading when I came in. There was a problem there and I don't know exactly what it was, but we lost quite some time there. But, I was able to work my way back through the field, so I'm pretty happy with a top 10. This is my first NASCAR. I did a test in Sebring in January, a one-day test and that's all I did. I'm very pleased with it."

WAS THERE MORE CONTACT IN THE BUSCH SERIES COMPARED TO OTHER SERIES THAT YOU'VE RACED? "It was pretty good. I just had some guy pushing me to the restart when it went green again, but apart from that it was OK. It didn't feel like they were hitting me too bad."

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE PIT STOP? "I don't know what happened there exactly. I was too busy working on getting back through the field, so I don't know exactly what went wrong."

DO YOU FEEL YOU'RE BETTER PREPARED FOR WATKINS GLEN? "Now I know what it's like, so I'll be good there."


REGAN SMITH-35-McDonald's Ford Fusion (Finished 25th)

"The McDonald's Ford Fusion was really good today and I've got to thank the guys for giving me a good car. I'm disappointed. You go all day long and bust your butts all day long, and with 10 to go things get crazy and somebody doesn't use their head and you don't get the good finish you deserve. But, I'm proud that we were able to run up there in the top 15 pretty consistently, and I felt like we had a top-10 car at the end of the day. We've just go on to Vegas and try there."

DID YOU SURPRISE YOURSELF THIS WEEKEND WITH HOW YOU WERE ABLE TO RUN? "No. I know what these guys are giving for race cars and I know what I'm capable of doing. I like road racing. It's just without having a lot of experience, I'm just trying to get comfortable on them. I fully expect to go up to The Glen and be just as good up there and hopefully top 10 the whole race, instead of the end of the race. Just bad luck today."


JORGE GOETERS-66-Scotiabank/Gel Xtreme Ford Fusion (Finished 14th)

"I think we are trying to get better. As always, nobody likes to get beat. I guess I was the best Mexican; I don't know. I was running good. I was getting going there, and they made me pass though and I did not agree with it. I stopped it on turn one, and they said that in the driver's meeting. I had to come from the back, but that is racing. I'm happy. I enjoyed every lap."
