BORIS SAID QUOTES:
On his strong road course finishes the past two years-- "It's been real good. The biggest reason is just that my background is all road racing so I've been doing pretty good on those tracks in NASCAR. I've been fortunate enough to drive in really good cars the last two years at Mexico. First with the No. 1 Dodge in 2005, we qualified fourth and finished fifth, and now in the No. 9 Hellmann's Dodge with Ray Evernham, his equipment, whole organization, it's as good as it gets. I feel pretty lucky to be in that kind of equipment."
What aspect of last year's race can you improve on this year at Mexico?-- "Win. I mean, that's the only thing that could go better, we just came up short last year. Last year we had a really good car. We actually got some debris on the grill at the end. The engine was running around 300 degrees the last five or six laps. It just wouldn't really run. Hopefully in the Hellmann's Dodge this year we can have the same kind of race we had in the Ingersoll Rand Dodge last year, just without any bad luck. "
What are your thoughts on the chicane that will be missing this year?... "That was the best part of the track for me as a driver because, it was really fast, and you had to be very precise. It could scare you a little bit. I'll miss it, but I don't think it will have that big an effect on the racing. Turn one will still be the best passing spot on the track. The only thing I don't really like about Mexico, if I had to say one bad thing about the track, they don't have any really, really fast corners. That chicane was really fast, so I'll miss it."
