Matt Kenseth returns to the North Carolina Speedway where he captured his first Busch Series Career Win in last year's spring race at Rockingham. The Reiser Enterprises team came to Rockingham last February unsponsored and unsure if they would be able to run the entire Busch Series schedule. The team went on to capture two more wins in 1998 and finished second in the championship points battle.
Matt Kenseth has only led one lap at the North Carolina Speedway in his three races at the 'Rock'. The only lap led by Matt was lap 197, passing Tony Stewart in turn four, taking the checkered flag for the win in February 1998.
Kenseth will be making his 55th career Busch Series start in the Alltel 200. Last season was Matt's first time running the entire Busch Series schedule.
Last weekend in Daytona, Matt Kenseth captured a fourth place finish, his first top five of the season. Last year Matt captured the most top five's and top ten's of any driver in the series, grabbing 17 top five's and 23 top ten's.
MATT'S THOUGHTS ON ROCKINGHAM
"It's cool to go back there. Rockingham has been weird to us, we've run really good there one time and really bad there two other times. I have only run the spring race at Rockingham once and we were able to win that race. We're going back to the 'Rock' with the same car we raced with last fall. That car was able to qualify really well before it got wrecked in practice. Hopefully, we will be able to match our qualifying effort again, and if we do I think we will have a good race."
"Last year my car was unsponsored in victory lane. This year it would be awesome if the team could go back again only with our new primary sponsor DeWALT Tools on the car. It would be great to give DeWALT their first win in the Busch Series at the North Carolina Speedway."
