Hutter to debut in Red Man Chevy in Talladega
TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 20, 1999) Brewco Motorsports/J&J Racing has announced that Matt Hutter will drive the No. 99 Red Man Chevrolet in seven NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division races during the 1999 season. Hutter will debut in Saturday's Touchstone Energy 300 at Talladega Superspeedway. Kevin Lepage also drives the car when it doesn't conflict with his NASCAR Winston Cup Series schedule. Tentatively that includes nine more races, while Hutter will also assume driving duties at California Speedway, The Milwaukee Mile, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Pikes Peak International Raceway, Michigan Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway.
Hutter started 14 NASCAR Busch Series races in 1998 driving the Stanley Tools Chevrolet and Cicci-Welliver Racing. His best career finish was 9th at Talladega last April. Hutter captured the Bud Pole for the FIRSTPLUS Financial 200 ARCA race at Daytona in February.
"I'm pretty excited about getting in these cars," Hutter said. "It's a real good car. (Crew chief) Dan Gibbs has been putting fast racecars on the track all year."
Hutter has been working for the team as a fabricator, team manager and mechanic.
"Matt Hutter is a fine young driver with lots of talent," said Todd Wilkerson, General Manager of Brewco Motorsports, Inc. "We're glad to give Matt the opportunity to drive the Red Man Chevrolet this season and showcase his talents. Matt's a real competitor and will do a great job. Plus, we're delighted that Red Man has agreed to sponsor the car for Matt's races as well."
