CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 28, 2000) - Mark Green will be driving for a new team in the NASCAR Busch Series 2001 season. Davis & Weight Motorsports announced Green will pilot its No. 55 Ford car next year. He drove the No. 63 Exxon Superflo Chevrolet to one top-10 and finished 26th in points this season. Green's new ride has no sponsor at this time.

Team owner Jerry Davis said Green should find success in Davis & Weight's equipment.

"We feel his driving skills, coupled with the quality of our engines and chassis, should enable us to be a consistent top-10 team," Davis said.

Green had his best season in 1997 when he finished with one top-5 and five top-10s to place 11th in points. In '98, he had four top-10s and registered a 13th-place finish in the final standings.

Davis & Weight Motorsports recently parted ways with driver Michael Ritch, who in 21 starts had no victories or top-10s and finished 33rd in points.

"I think that both Davis & Weight Motorsports and I did not fulfill our expectations last year," Green said. "Hopefully my addition will be the missing link this team needs to successful. These guys are a good crew with good equipment, and I am looking forward to working with them to put a winning package together."
