CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Mark Green and his Superflo/HMV Motorsports team has had a season filled with bad breaks. At Nazareth, Green was running in the sixth position when he got tangled with a lapped car and at last weekend's NAPA Auto Care 250 at Pikes Peak International Raceway, Green fought handling problems the entire race. Despite all of the troubles that the Superflo team has endured, they continue to keep looking for the race that will turn the season around and hope that this weekend's CARQUEST Auto Parts 250, held at Gateway International Raceway just outside of St. Louis, Mo., will be that starting place. Gateway International Raceway joined the NASCAR Busch Series in 1997 when it was redeveloped, adding 60,000 seats to the 1.25-mile oval. "Gateway is a fun track to race on," explained Green, driver of the No. 63 Superflo Chevrolet. "In our first year at the track we finished in the eighth position and were having a good run last year when we had engine failure." Although the Superflo team has not had as much success on the track as they had hoped in for the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series season, teamwork has kept the team together and looking to turn the season around. "The team has worked very hard at all of the races," commented Jeff Hensley, HMV Motorsports team manager. "We consistently have great pit-stops that help us to gain track position. It is only a matter of time before we get the success we deserve." "We worked hard preparing the car for Gateway," continued Hensley. "If the team keeps doing what they have been, we can be competitive on race day." The CARQUEST Auto Parts 250 will be televised live on TNN with coverage beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio starting at 8:45 p.m. EST.
