Lyndon Amick to drive ppc Racing Ford at Kansas Speedway.
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 14, 2002) - ppc Racing announced today that Lyndon Amick will drive the No. 15 Ford Taurus in the upcoming NASCAR Busch Series race at Kansas Speedway. Amick is also scheduled to drive for ppc Racing in at least one other event this season - a race to be determined later depending on sponsorship.
"We are extremely excited to have Lyndon join ppc Racing for the upcoming event at Kansas," stated ppc Racing co-owner Greg Pollex. "Lyndon is an experienced driver who demonstrates our team's core values with his professionalism and competitive nature."
In 2003, ppc Racing hopes to expand its operation to include a third car. "Should primary and associate sponsorships come available for a third team, we will add one," stated Pollex. "I think with each car we put on the track, we make our entire organization stronger." Currently the team is seeking primary and associate sponsorship for the No. 15 Ford.
Amick, 1996 Goody's Dash Touring Series Champion, has competed on the Busch Series circuit since 1997. His NASCAR Busch Series career best finish came in his home state of South Carolina at Myrtle Beach Speedway in 1999 where he finished fourth. Amick also claimed a victory in the ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) Series race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in 2000.
Amick is looking forward to showcasing his talents with one of the premier teams in the NASCAR Busch Series. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Amick. "I feel so fortunate to be a part of a great organization like ppc Racing. My hope is that I'll be able to achieve the level of success that I know I am capable of, which in turn may open doors for other opportunities within the Busch or Craftsman Truck Series. Whether with ppc Racing or another organization, this race at Kansas Speedway is the next step in building my career."
NASCAR Busch Series champions in 2000, ppc Racing fields two full-time teams in the Busch Series. Jason Keller, who drives the No. 57 Ford and has won four times this year, holds down second place in the point standings, while Keller's teammate, rookie sensation Scott Riggs, stands in fourth place in the championship hunt and has been victorious on two occasions this season.
