LOUDON, NH (July 19, 2003) -- Team Yellow driver David Stremme (who was not behind the wheel this week, but will return next weekend) was greeting a group of Yellow Transportation guests from Canada on Friday night when he described the picturesque rural area surrounding New Hampshire Int'l Speedway, "We got off the plane on Wednesday and drove to our hotel. We have been back and forth to the track, but I have not seen a four lane road since I got off the plane two nights ago. I think they just paved all of the old wagon trails and left them meandering through the beautiful hills and trees."
The members of Team Yellow must have felt like the track had been formed on old wagon trails as they struggled to find a setup that would power the #1 Dodge and driver Jamie McMurray to the finish line. They did a fantastic job of putting together a machine that could cover the roughest territory. But with around 30 laps to go in the race, Team Yellow lost some horsepower when the car lost a cylinder. Within14 laps to go all cylinders were lost, leaving driver McMurray coasting to the garage.
"It's so disappointing for the team to have worked so hard to get the car set up right and then lose the engine. We were really strong out there today, and would have had another top-5 finish. I guess the best thing that comes out of something like this happening is it inspires the team to discover what went wrong and make sure it does not happen again. Everything is a learning experience," crew chief Jon Wolfe said.
Team Yellow finished the race in 23rd position. The race was won by David Green, Kevin Harvick came in second and Matt Kenseth was third.
The NASCAR Busch Series will be at Pikes Peak International Raceway for the TrimSpa Dream Body 250 presented by Dodge on Saturday, July 26 with driver David Stremme back behind the wheel. The race will be aired live on NBC and broadcast live on MRN beginning at 3:30 p.m. EDT. Qualifying for the event will take place Friday, July 25 at 4:05 p.m. EDT and will be aired on Speedchannel.
