“I’m so thrilled about our seventh-place finish at Talladega,” Pearson said. “It was our first top-10 finish of 1999. The Buckshot Racing team worked on the car all day long. We kept adjusting on the car because we were battling a tight condition, but the car was awesome at the end of the race when it really counted. I was able to make some friends on the track in the draft this time. The number 27 car and the number 38 car helped me out a lot. I’ m also thankful that we had a little luck on our side and were able to miss the big pileup. The Buckshot Racing team needed a boost and we now feel that this marks the turning point for this team. We hope to build upon this great finish and gain momentum for the rest of the season.”
Equipment: The Buckshot Racing team is running the same car they ran at Nashville Speedway USA earlier this year. The car, with Buckshot Jones behind the wheel substituting for the injured Larry Pearson, finished 12th in the race.
First Visit: Pearson has never competed at the new California Speedway in Fontana. The only time he competed in the state of California was in a Winston Cup Event at Sears Point Raceway in 1989.
First Time Winners: Todd Bodine won the inaugural event in 1997 and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won this event on his first visit to the track in 1998. Pearson is hoping this trend will continue on his first visit to California Speedway and take the No. 00 Cheez-It® Pontiac to Victory Lane.
“I am ready to tackle the challenge of competing on a track that I have never been to before,” Pearson said. “I am hoping to continue the trend of having first time competitors end up in Victory Lane.”
Larry Pearson will be participating in the Ralph’s Race Fest on Thursday, April 29th at California Speedway. Pearson will be signing autographs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
