Mosley gains experience in debut & is excited about his home state race

CONCORD, NC (June 11, 2003) -- They say all it takes is a phone call. Well, London, Kentucky-native Jamie Mosley is now a believer in that philosophy. As he was preparing to make his NASCAR Busch Series debut at Kentucky Speedway, Mosley received a phone call from Busch Series team owner Jay Robinson, asking if he could fill in for one of his drivers who had a family emergency. So Mosley jumped in his car, drove down to Nashville Superspeedway on Friday morning and made his debut a week early, finishing 21st in Robinson's #39, improving 11 spots from his starting position.

That phone call helped gain him momentum for this weekend's NASCAR Busch Series "Meijer 300 presented by Oreo" at Kentucky Speedway. Mosley will take the wheel of the #39 again; this time with the help of his regular ARCA crew and the experience he gained of racing at Nashville last week.

"The experience we gained at Nashville last week will really help us as we head to our home track of Kentucky," said Mosley, who already raced at Kentucky earlier this year with his own ARCA team. "Jay Robinson has given me a great opportunity to get a little more experience in the Busch Series and I think that we proved last week that we can run in the top-15 or top-20.

"We were very conservative last week, because we just wanted to help Jay out and get the car through the race and keep the car up there in owner's points. This week in Kentucky, though, we will have more of the 'green light' to go out there and race a lot harder. I know I can take from what I have learned in my two ARCA races at Kentucky and the experience of being in the Busch car last week. But make no doubt about it, this team will still be the underdog and I will be the underdog driver. I'll take that role and use it to my advantage."

Mosley's Busch debut at Kentucky Speedway will be helped by the addition of Karnes Dyno-Rev Engines, Waffle King and American Mortgage Lenders.

Karnes Dyno-Rev Engines is set on developing engines that are environmentally safe, abundant, cost effective, and relatively inextinguishable. Dyno-Rev Engines are incorporated in power cars, factories, homes and aircraft while saving our vital natural resources.

American Mortgage Lenders has also jumped on board for the Kentucky event. American Mortgage Lenders is a regional mortgage company offering a full range of mortgage loans based in Lexington (KY), with offices in London and Louisville. The company is licensed and operated in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and West Virginia.

"I think things have come together well, and with the help of Karnes Dyno Engines, Waffle King and American Mortgage Lenders, we will have the shot to run even more competitive than we did in the ARCA race there. We know we can be competitive; we have all the things in place to do that. I will go into this race knowing that I am not out there to win or run in the top-five, but realistically run in the top-15 or top-20 and gain exposure for my sponsors. If I can do that in only my second Busch (Series) start, I will be satisfied."

Mosley is not the only home-state member of his team. In fact, his entire "over the wall" pit crew will be performing in front of their home-state fans as well, for the first time in the Busch Series. Mosley, who serves as a Kentucky State Police Dispatcher during the week, has enlisted several of his law enforcement buddies to work on the car and serve as the "over-the-wall" crew. The team is comprised of Kentucky State Troopers, Deputies and local Kentucky Police Officers.

The "Meijer 300 presented by Oreo" will be the second Busch race of the season for Mosley. Qualifying for the race will be Friday, June 13th, at 5 pm. The 200-lap race is set to begin on Saturday, June 14th, at 8 pm. The race will be seen LIVE on FX.
