MIKE WALLACE'S RESULTS AT KANSAS - Mike Wallace, driving the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge, will make his fourth start at Kansas Speedway in Saturday's United Way 300 NASCAR Busch Series event. In three previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Wallace has an average finish of 18.7 and has completed 601 of 604 laps (99.5 percent).
GERE KENNON JOINS AKINS MOTORSPORTS AS CREW CHIEF - Disappointed with its 21st position in the NASCAR Busch Series owner point standings, Akins Motorsports has announced that Gere Kennon will replace Jon Wolfe as crew chief of the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge. Kennon, a Memphis, Tenn., native, was most recently crew chief on Michael Waltrip Racing's No. 99 NASCAR Busch Series team. Prior to working at MWR, Kennon served as competition director at Innovative Motorsports for five years. To his credits, he has recorded two NASCAR Busch Series Championships and 31 victories in NASCAR's top-three series.
WALLACE ON REUNITING WITH KENNON - "I'm looking forward to reuniting with Kennon. He was my first crew chief in NASCAR after I moved to Charlotte. I worked with him briefly in the NASCAR Busch Series for High Line Racing. I think he is very talented and he will fit in well at Akins Motorsports."
CHASSIS INFORMATION - The Great Clips team is taking chassis No. 45 to Kansas. The car has competed this season at the following tracks: Las Vegas Motor Speedway (started eighth, finished 20th, Kasey Kahne driving); Bristol Motor Speedway (started 11th, finished 35th, Tyler Walker driving); and Kentucky Speedway (started ninth, finished 19th, Walker driving).
FREE HAIRCUTS - Great Clips is offering complimentary haircuts this weekend at the Motor Racing Outreach Community Center, which is located inside the Driver Motorhome Lot, adjacent to the NEXTEL Cup Garage. The hours of operation are as follows: Friday, October 7 (9 a.m. until 5 p.m.) and Saturday, October 8 (9 a.m. until 1 p.m.).
APPEARENCES - Wallace will be on hand for the Salvation Army Accelerating for Hope: Pit Yourself Against the Pros event at T-Bones Stadium (located directly across from Kansas Speedway). He will be signing autographs as well as playing video games against local celebrities from 7-8 p.m.
