"That was just a little bit slower from practice this morning, and I don't know why. It felt good all day. The car felt good in qualifying, but it was just a little bit tighter than we had run in practice and we actually put more tape on it just to loosen it up. I don't know if the track is just picking up grip because it's getting cooler or what. That will put us safely in the show and I think we have a really good car."
ARE YOU SURPRISED THE TRACK GOT TIGHTER FROM PRACTICE? "We made a mock-up qualifying run on sticker tires and the car felt really good. It was a little bit tight then, so we tape on it and did things to loosen it up, but we didn't loosen it up. A lot of times a driver will drive in a little further and a little bit harder in qualifying, which makes a car tight, too."

"It seemed like my car was a lot better on scuffs than stickers. We ran a pretty fast lap in practice, but it was on scuffs. We just could never get it to go on stickers. I'm not sure why that is, but it is what it is. I wish we could have qualified on scuffs. We knew we had to qualify on stickers, but what happens is you make two or three qualifying runs and we didn't know if we were making our car better or if the tires were getting better. It seems like now we know the tires are getting better because we couldn't repeat what we did on scuffs on stickers. It's odd because usually you put stickers on and you pick up."
DO YOU ANTICIPATE ANY SIDE-BY-SIDE RACING TOMORROW? "It's too fast to see side-by-side racing. I think you're going to still see single-file racing, but you may see some side-by-side up off the corner but nothing through the corner."
THIS RACE WILL MARK YOUR 350TH BUSCH SERIES START. "To be here as long as I've been, it's a milestone to accomplish, but I still feel like there's 350 more. We have to get our act together and get the right situation so I can do that."
MIKE MCLAUGHLIN-25-Team Marines Ford Taurus (Qualified 13th)
"In race mode this morning we had a good car and in qualifying I was a little bit off. They made some adjustments and that was the fastest we ran all day by a little. The track slowed down so we got a little better. The track seemed to tighten up quite a bit from what it was. I anticipated it being a little freer but it wasn't. It was tight."
YOU HAVEN'T TESTED OR RACED HERE INA FEW YEARS. HOW TOUGH WAS IT TO GET ACCLIMATED TO THE TRACK THIS MORNING? "It's not bad. There are enough tracks shaped like this that it's not too bad."
DO YOU ANTICIPATE ANY SIDE-BY-SIDE RACING TOMORROW? "At the end of the race there might be room for one lane, but that would be a fine line. When I was here the last time, if you got outside the black it was a slick race track."
DOES HAROLD HOLLY MAKE ALL OF THE DECISIONS ON WHAT CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE TO THE CAR? "I just have enough faith in Harold to trust him. I just give him what I'm feeling and let him make the changes. I haven't been in a car on a weekly basis for a while, and some of the springs they're running I would never have even thought about putting in there. I don't even want to know. I just tell what it's feeling like and he fixes it."

"We're a little better from practice, but we still don't know where we're off or why we're off. It's just a really good car, and we can't get it to turn. Matt's (Kenseth) having the same problem we are, and we don't know the cause."
ARE YOU SURPRISED THE TRACK CONDITIONS HAVE TIGHTENED UP FROM PRACTICE? "A little bit. We're the exact same in qualifying trim as we are in race trim. It's like there's something wrong with the car. There's no change, the car has the same characteristics. It won't turn and there's nothing we can do to make it turn."
ARE YOU HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CUP CAR? "No, that's why I think it's something with the car. The Cup car is awesome."
STACY COMPTON-59-Kingsford/Bush's Beans Ford Taurus (Qualified 28th)
"We actually picked up a little bit from practice, but we can't seem to find anything in qualifying. In race trim, I think we're a top-seven car. We just have to figure out what's going on in qualifying. We just can't see to hit on anything in qualifying, and starting back that far makes a long day."
IF THERE IS NO SECOND GROOVE TOMORROW, HOW TOUGH WILL IT MAKE IT TO PASS HERE? "It's going to make it tough. Right now it's not but a groove and a half, so it's going to make it tough to get up through there. But, our car was so good in race trim. It will be tough, don't get me wrong, but I think we're a top-seven or eight car in race trim. If the car turns as good in the race as it did in race trim this morning we'll be OK."'
ROBERT PRESSLEY-47-Clorox/Wisk/Country Mart Ford Taurus (Qualified 29th)
"With the sun coming out there midway through qualifying I think me and Stacy were at a bit of a disadvantage, but everybody from here till the end is going to have it. We really stayed in race runs today, but we're trying to get this thing turned around these last seven where we're ready to go next year. We're making headway, and these guys are working hard. That was probably the best qualifying lap that I've had all year and that's still not what we need."
WERE YOU ABLE TO COMPENSATE FOR THE SUN? "It was too late. Three cars in front of us I saw the clouds moving out and I thought if it would just hold off five minutes we'd be all right, but as soon as Stacy went out the sun came out."
